For one weekend only, locals can join the Stubb’s team at the south Austin Costco, located at 4301 W William Cannon Drive, on Feb. 2nd to get the first taste during these times:

To celebrate the new menu addition of their Chicken McBites, McDonalds Austin will be offering Snack-Sized McBites for just $1 (reg $1.99) between now and January 29, 2012. Chicken McBites come in three sizes: snack (3 oz.), regular (5 oz.) and shareable (10 oz.). Dipping sauces include: Sweet Chili, Tangy BBQ, Sweet ‘N’ Sour, Spicy Buffalo, Creamy Ranch and Honey Mustard. All 68 area locations will be participating.

FREE Pizza for a Year from Cici’s – Anderson Lane Grand Opening

CiCi’s Pizza will host a grand opening at its newest location located at 2525 W. Anderson Lane in the Northcross shopping center on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. The first 100 guests to purchase an adult buffet on opening day will receive a FREE pizza buffet each month for a year. Hundreds of wallets will be dropped in the area for residents to find with a free buffet coupon tucked inside.

Adult buffet will be $5.49 and 15″ one-topping carryout pizzas will be just $6.99.

AmazonLocal daily deals now available in Austin

Amazon.com announced the arrival in Austin of AmazonLocal, a new local deals marketplace offering customers an average savings of 50 percent off everything from restaurants to spas and events.

The AmazonLocal Austin site went live on Aug. 25 at http://local.amazon.com/austin, and customers in greater Austin received the first deal “$10 for $20 of delicious coffee at Elixer Coffee in Downtown Austin.”

The Austin Lima Sister Cities Committee is presenting our 5th annual art exhibition, Art Across the Americas, featuring Peruvian and North American artists at the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection Library, The University of Texas, Austin, Texas.  An artists‚ reception will be Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 6-9pm, with special guest, the Consul General of Peru, Sr. Carlos Polo, who will be traveling from Houston.  Art work sales from the exhibition will go to the artists and to the Center for Adolescent Mothers, in Lima, Peru. (http://www.cedetep.org/)  In June 2011, the Lima chapter of the Austin Lima Sister Cities, organized an art exhibition of Austin and Limeno artists, at the Terrazas Club, in Lima. Austin artists featured in that exhibition were Jill Alo, Barbara Timko, Tita Griesbach, and Brandon White.

Some of the Peruvian artists in this year‚s Austin exhibition will include Nelly Mayhua Mendoza, Doris Guiterrez, Emma Alcarraz Guia, Yolanda Velásquez Reinoso, Joe Marquez, Elsa Pulgar-Vidal, Cristina Duenas Pachas, and Del Nino Ladron.  Nelly Mayhua Mendoza will be traveling from Peru to attend the reception.  Felix Sampaio, a sculptor from Brazil will also be exhibiting and visiting Austin.  Some of the local Austin artists include Catherine Small, Bill Oakey, Leslie Kell, Patricia Lyle, Paul McGuire, Dixie Rhoades, Connie Schaertl, Barbara Timko, Beverly Adams, John Bielss, Karen Burges, Beverly Cobb, Jill Alo, Lloyd Cuninngham, Tita Griesbach, Betty Jameson, Alonso Rey-Sanchez, and Marla Ripperda.  Work by Marisa Boullosa, from Mexico, will also be exhibited.

Admission to the reception and exhibit is free and open to the public.  Music and refreshments will be provided. Attendees at the reception will choose a People‚s Choice Award.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Austinites to see work from artists in one of our sister cities. Please note the location of our exhibition this year is at the Latin American Library at UT.  It will close October 30th.
